An Atomic Engergy Commision train is only a Lionel creation? Think again! In 1961 Pullman rebuilt four sleepers for AEC service including sleeping space for armed guards and a storage area for the shipments which were carried in lead and concrete casks. The real cars were far less conspicuous than Lionel's. With a home base of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, they were decorated in the standard livery of the L&N and complete with REA Express markings. But the fine print by the baggage doors gives the car away and they could be found on railroads nationwide. While much more in keeping with the prototype than our other "atomic" offerings, we couldn't help but have a little fun here too. This 18" car includes "gieger counter" sounds on a loop and a special clear coating to help it glow in the dark. Now you can add some atom-splitting fun to your operations and still be prototypical!
