As CSX began to define its own united identity, several experimental paint schemes were tried. Very few locomotives and only two GP40-2s received this first variation with the full "CSX Transportation" name in 1986. 6382 was the only ex-L&N GP40-2 to be so painted and was featured in numerous corporate advertisements early on. It continued to wear this paint in service before being renum-bered 6478 around 1990. The model replicates not only the unique paint from its late 80s look but also key spotting features like the nose-mounted headlight and class lights.
