Chapel Car
*PLEASE NOTE THAT ART PICTURED ABOVE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
As the railroad built and carried civilization westward, it didn’t always bring civility with it! As new towns arose on the planes itwas usually the saloon, not the church, which went up first. But there were some who thought the rails could be as much a partof the solution as the creation of this depravity. From the late 19th to middle 20th Century, several denominations built andoperated small rosters of chapel cars which could travel from town to town to spread the gospel, provide baptism andother special services and serve the humanitarian good. Services were even conducted on board during travel with allpassengers invited to attend. The railroad seemed to touch every aspect of life - even the spiritual. Based on one of theearliest in use from 1891 to 1925, this model promises to be a discussion point on any model railroad!
